Who should assess our FR5 pendant after its enclosure arrived split?

The pendant in our FR5 delivery has a split enclosure beside a fastening point. Its packing compartment was crushed. Seller says power it and report any faults, but that leaves us deciding whether damaged electrical equipment is fit to try. I have kept it unpowered and retained the packing photographs.

Ask for a service assessment of the damaged pendant, including the affected enclosure and anything beneath it, before power-up. The sales instruction does not give your installer an assessment scope or identify who is responsible for it.

Service wants the pendant returned. Sales offered a small credit for the enclosure damage instead. I have asked them to agree one proposal rather than leave me choosing between two departments.

A cosmetic credit would not answer your installer's condition question, so I would keep the service assessment request open even while the commercial contact discusses money.

We had a damaged accessory photographed after unpacking and then spent ages explaining where it had been in the crate. Have you got the pendant's position and the crushed compartment in the same arrival sequence?

Yes, Nina. The photographs show it in the compartment before removal and then the split close up. Service has both with the pendant identity. They confirmed return for assessment, with no powered trial requested.

Have they confirmed what your installer should do with the rest of the package while the pendant is away? Better to get that scope than assume the visible damage is the whole story.

Installer is reviewing the full arrival condition with service, Sam. No other visible damage found, but we have not taken that as permission to begin setup without the assessed pendant.

Get the return identification and packing requirements before dispatch. Keep the original damage description with it so the assessment is not reduced to an unexplained loose pendant arriving on a bench.

And keep your copies. The box cannot be your only filing cabinet.

Who has accepted the return cost and arranged collection? That should be settled alongside the technical scope, not discovered when you try to send it.

Seller covers the agreed return transport. Collection completed using the service packing instructions and case reference. I have the carrier receipt; service intake and assessment are still outstanding. Thanks, Nadia, the named scope got us past the power-it message.

Please return with the assessment finding. It will be useful to know what was actually affected, without guessing from the split enclosure alone.
