long fingers aren't looking like a free fix

Longer fingers might get our FR10 concept past the mill door, but I'm not convinced we've solved anything. This is for a teaching workshop, taking finished blanks out of a vice. Has anyone had a layout improve at the fingers and get worse everywhere else?

Yes. Extra offset cleared our doorway and made the withdrawal sweep larger; the doorway was only the first obstacle.

That's roughly my worry. Our designer has moved the tool tip in the drawing but kept the old outline behind it. I'll get the complete assembly added.

Include the held blank, cable routing and applicable tool-loading checks; longer fingers are a tooling change, not a drawing correction.

Yep, the tooling supplier needs to review it. I'm only comparing spaces with foamboard at present, not making a set of fingers.

Foamboard is useful for exclusion; passing that check does not establish a feasible robot path.

The mock-up caught another snag today: our collection tray occupies the proposed exit space. That tray position was inherited from manual loading. We're reconsidering it before the next layout review.

Who refills or removes the tray? Relocating it may simply transfer the obstruction to the operator.
