Our FR5 handover slip names a depot the agent does not recognise

The seller sent a handover slip for our FR5 and tool cable after I asked where the package was. It names a depot abbreviation, while the freight agent says its warehouse has not received anything under our booking. I'm not assuming either is the final location. What would join these two answers up?

Ask who physically received the package on that slip, with the crate mark and booking reference together. A depot abbreviation is a poor substitute for a receiving record.

The slip has the crate mark but no recipient name. The seller says its local truck delivered it to a collection depot, not the agent's warehouse.

Then trace the collection depot first. I'd put both parties on one message with the two references, but ask the seller for its truck's actual delivery record rather than another restatement of handed over.

Seller has supplied a signed depot receipt. Agent confirms that depot feeds its warehouse, but cannot find our crate on the transfer list. At least the names now describe two different places rather than two versions of one place.

Has the collection depot searched by the physical crate mark?

Thomas, yes, that's the next useful search. A booking typo could leave the crate sitting there quite peacefully while everyone searches a number it doesn't have.

Depot found it. The booking on its receipt had two characters transposed. It supplied a photograph of our crate mark and corrected the transfer entry. No warehouse receipt yet.

Has the agent received it since that correction?

Yes. The agent has confirmed warehouse receipt against the corrected booking and our crate mark. Its contents list includes the tool cable, though our own contents check obviously waits for delivery.

Thank you for the update. Keep the original typo with the corrected reference in your file; it explains this gap better than a fresh page that makes the transfer look uninterrupted.

The shipment reached us and we checked the listed arm package and tool cable at receiving. Both present. I've closed the location query and kept the reference correction with it. The missing link was the depot booking, not a second unexplained shipment.
