We're planning defining dimensional control for bracket welding with Fairino FR10 on a gusseted steel support bracket weldment in a precision fabrication quality department.
Our old inspection notes say it looks aligned while restrained, then falls outside the drawing requirement after release.
I want to untangle fit-up, fixture location and final inspection before our new cell inherits an unexplained correction routine.

@EllaChan1077 Does the inspection procedure define the released condition and reference supports? Check that alongside whether each old measurement says how the assembly was held.
The sheets mix clamped checks and released measurements. Some don't say which. The drawing has the dimension, but our procedure leaves the support condition vague
Have quality and the drawing owner define the acceptance condition. Group the old results by known measurement state; that should make them comparable.
Grouping by restraint state won't fully establish comparability if reference supports, fixture revisions or process revisions differ or remain unknown within each group.
You're right; I overstated that. Grouping exposes one difference. Keep support conditions, fixture revision and process links visible too, including anything unknown.

Keep the revision unconfirmed in the data. A separate note can preserve the recollection as a lead without presenting it as an established fixture reference.
@SarahBrooks0850 On my bracket job, filling blanks from memory produced a very persuasive trend. Finding the original fixture sheets made the trend disappear. Not my favourite chart.
Because the required inspection condition may be after release. Holding a shape under restraint doesn't establish the shape the assembly takes without that restraint.
The drawing owner confirms released inspection on specified reference supports. Quality is putting that condition into the sheet. At least that part won't be guessed
For the linked samples, add incoming fit-up observations beside released results. Your welding engineer can assess any association within the documented process conditions.
The linked records show different fit-up conditions among assemblies that moved after release. It's a lead, but I can't tell whether fit-up caused the movement
@EllaChan1077 Present that association with the limits of the available records. It can be worth the welding engineer's attention without being described as an established cause.
@VictorAllen0272 More restraint can change the behaviour, but doesn't guarantee the released dimensions. Have the fixture specialist and welding engineer assess restraint, thermal movement and release together.
The measurement problem is clearer, but I still can't explain the released variation. I'll keep fixture changes open until the inspection basis and linked records support the specialists' assessment
