Crate arrived with a crushed corner and displaced supports, with damage near the UR5e pendant enclosure; I've kept it unpowered and retained the packaging and arrival photos, but the seller's answer is switch it on, which doesn't explain what somebody should assess before our tray-transfer setup starts

Keep the hold and ask for a competent assessment with a method suited to the damage. Include equipment identity, the affected area and wider views relating it to the shifted supports. Starting successfully would not answer whether that was an appropriate inspection step

Does the photograph show a cracked enclosure or only a damaged external guard?

Crack at the enclosure fixing, Imran, not just a scuffed outer guard; the arrival views show a displaced support against that corner, and I've sent the full set to the seller's technical contact

Has that contact offered an inspection route? I mean an actual person and scope, not confirmation that the pictures reached another inbox.

A local service technician has proposed an unpowered inspection first, including the damaged fixing and what lies beneath it; seller has agreed the visit cost and our equipment lead accepted the scope

Keep the technician's findings and any later test conditions together. The delivery damage assessment should not become approval of your tray-transfer application simply because both appear on the same commissioning schedule

And inspection booked is not inspection completed. Keep that date off the repair-finished line.

Inspection found the broken enclosure fixing and a damaged cover, with replacement specified before the technician's further checks; the parts are available locally, and the sorting of costs hasn't delayed that agreed repair

Cover and fixing replaced, technician completed and documented the subsequent checks and released the unit from the delivery-damage hold; our tray-transfer application still needs its planned commissioning, so I haven't called the whole cell ready

Thanks for reporting the actual repair, Nina. That's the useful ending to a damage enquiry, not just that it eventually lit up.
