Is a power-on video supposed to settle freight damage?

Our FR10 arrived with a crate brace pressed against the cabinet door; the latch area is visibly distorted. The seller has requested a startup video before reviewing the damage claim. I have arrival photographs and the packing is retained. The equipment is unpowered, and I am not treating a lit screen as an inspection result.

Ask what question the video is intended to answer, because it cannot establish the condition behind that distorted panel. Your report should identify the visible damage and request an assessment route, with a named technical contact responsible for the next step.

Their message says it would prove whether transport affected operation. That conclusion seems considerably wider than the proposed test.

It is wider. Ask them to separate the commercial claim from the technical assessment; you can provide delivery evidence now while the competent assessor determines how the equipment should be examined.

Purchasing has sent the receipt, crate photographs and panel photographs, with the equipment identifiers. We have asked for written assessment arrangements.

Include the brace position in those photos. I couldn't diagnose the cabinet, but that contact point could help an assessor understand where the load went.

Yes, though describe it as the observed arrival position rather than proof of the entire impact sequence. We are often much better at photographing damage than knowing how it happened.

Keep the original image files too; the messaging app turned our useful label photos into unreadable little squares.

That is practical advice, thanks. An indexed copy for easy reading plus the originals gives the recipient both context and detail without asking the equipment to perform for the camera.

The seller agreed to review an independent inspection report. Our integrator has accepted the assessment job. This is progress on procedure, not confirmation that the cabinet is serviceable or that the claim is settled.

Have purchasing confirm how the report will be submitted and who answers it. Otherwise the assessment can finish while the commercial question lands back in the same unattended inbox.
