How should I document the damage near the tool interface cover?

Our Fairino FR10 arrived from an unnamed seller in China in a crate with a crushed corner and shifted internal supports. I can see damage near the tool interface cover. We bought it for placing assembly samples; I haven't powered it. I've photographed the delivery and kept the packaging, but the seller's reply just says to switch it on.

@ElliotArcher0422 Do your photos show the crate label, shifted supports, and the wider area around the damage? Those would help someone assess what they're looking at.

@CallumChan1056 Yes. I've got the crushed corner and shifted restraint before unpacking, plus wider photos around the tool interface cover. I kept the delivery paperwork too.

Provide the photographs and delivery details, asking for qualified assessment and suitable handling instructions. Keep the equipment off while the seller's power-on suggestion lacks an inspection procedure.

@CallumChan1056 Should I call it transport damage? I know how it looked on arrival, not where the knock happened.

@ElliotArcher0422 Report what you observed on receipt. Establishing responsibility for the damage isn't necessary to describe the crate condition and visible marks accurately.

The shifted restraint suggests an impact reached the equipment. Make sure the assessor sees that photo, not just the outer crate.

@CallumChan1056 It shows a shifted restraint. We don't know the force path or when it moved. Don't turn the photograph into a diagnosis.

You're right; my interpretation went beyond the photograph. The restraint displacement should be reported as an observation for the assessor to evaluate.

@CallumChan1056 Could a power-on test establish whether the visible damage affects the equipment?
