Our FR10 spacer pickup has acquired a growing collection of nudges

Our shared-station FR10 spacer transfer keeps needing pickup adjustments, and the grip looks less square although the tray looks fixed. I'd like maintenance to find out why before we spend another session reteaching. Where should we start?

Preserve the current program and adjustment history, then inspect the as-found tool and presentation under your maintenance procedure. Start with what is physically different, not a theory about arm drift based on the place where you notice the miss.

Compare the spacer against its intended contacts in the fingers and tray, because a familiar-looking tray can still hold a part differently

In my spacer case the pad change improved a limited comparison, but changeover was still open. Is yours tied to a tray change or does it worsen within the same setup?

Don't make pad wear the default answer from Rachel's example. I had a height mismatch discussed on another grip problem while the tray check was still missing. The two observations didn't magically become one cause.

I read Rachel as asking about timing, Leon, not diagnosing the fingers from a different machine

Fair, Zara. I read more into it than she said. The timing question is useful.

I can't separate within-run changes from changeovers in the current notes. We wrote down offsets, not tray identities.

Have the maintenance inspection preserve that uncertainty. Or rather, don't let the new tray register imply the earlier tray identities have been recovered.

For the next approved comparison, keep identified spacers and tray positions with the physical inspection results and the exact program revision used. You can then compare like with like. If someone cleans a seat, reseats a finger and changes an offset between observations, record all three; an improved pickup would not isolate which change mattered.

Have the toolmaker confirm the intended contact arrangement as well, especially if there is no trustworthy as-built record to compare the current fingers with

Maintenance found one tray not fully against its locating face. Fingers haven't been assessed yet.

Was that tray linked to a recorded bad pickup, or found during the general check? Different weight of evidence.

General check. It isn't tied to the earlier misses. We have corrected its seating under the procedure.

Then tell the next shift about the seating finding without promising you've explained all the offset changes

And make sure the corrected seat is recognisable. A note saying seat correctly isn't much use if the locating face is hidden once the tray is installed.

Has the tool inspection produced anything else, or is that still waiting?

No finger defect established. The limited comparison after seating correction looked better; replacement-tray checks still need doing.

Which pickup revision was used for that comparison? The accumulated compensation matters. A squarer grip with the latest edited points is not automatically evidence that the original points would work after correcting the tray seat.

Latest saved revision, not the original. Thank you, Anil; I've added that to the result before the teaching team reads it.
