Two freight references for our missing FR5 crate

Seller says our FR5 and gripper left with their agent. Agent says waiting for warehouse receipt. They are using different references, and every reply sends me back to the other person. How do I get them talking about the same crate? I just want to know where it is.

Put both references and your crate identifier in one message, ask them to map the numbers and name the last place that physically received it

Done. Seller's number turns out to be a local collection booking. Agent's is the planned export shipment. Neither has sent a signed receipt.

Who was booked to collect it? Try that carrier with the collection number, because the export agent may never have had it

A local haulage company. Seller has finally named them, but says all queries should go through sales. I've asked sales for their collection record.

Has sales actually said collected, or just booked?

Worth pinning down, their left with agent wording may be doing more work than the truck

They keep saying handed over. I've asked for the recipient, place and receipt rather than another status phrase. No answer yet.

Then leave the location unknown in your own notes for now, there's no physical handover record to point at yet
