What appearance requirement applies to the visible cylindrical surface? Agree that comparison first, including the viewing conditions and the condition of the samples before handling.
Soft pads leave a cloudy band on our collar

We have an approved appearance sample. Supplier used a phone torch instead of the specified inspection light.
19 pointsUse the specified method for acceptance. The torch may help locate a mark, but it should not silently replace the viewing conditions you agreed for judging the finish.
22 pointsDoes the band wipe off under the permitted cleaning method? I'm asking what it is, not suggesting you add an unpriced cleaning job to every collar.
18 pointsNot checked yet. I'll ask quality to compare before and after permitted cleaning.
4 pointsHave them preserve the before-cleaning observation as well. If cleaning becomes necessary after handling, purchasing needs that task and its consumables included in the comparison.
15 pointsAsk for untouched collars from the same supply beside the handled ones. We have had enough arguments about lines on shiny parts to know that a nice label saying test sample does not tell you when the line appeared.
8 pointsInclude the pad replacement interval as an open question too. A clean first sample does not tell you how often maintenance will have to change the contacts.
21 pointsI'd leave that interval open until they have wear evidence, Harish. Guessing an interval now could make either pad look cheaper just by choosing a friendly number.
22 pointsAgreed, no invented interval. Supplier will include hold, transfer and release into our nest in the trial.
3 pointsWhich nest revision, Sam? Make sure they aren't demonstrating the earlier roomy one if yours has changed.
1 pointsRevision B, matching our current fixture drawing. Both pad proposals will use it.
17 pointsThat is why I called the interval an open question, Aaron. We can compare the purchase prices now and keep the maintenance estimate provisional rather than filling it with a guess.
